At LIIN, we believe that entrepreneurship can economically empower women and generate economic freedom and inclusive growth in Sri Lanka’s labour force. To create an ecosystem which nurtures women’s participation in entrepreneurship, the ‘Emerging Women’ programme was initiated to promote leadership in enterprise development and instilling confidence for women social entrepreneurs through capacity building, inclusive finance and impact investment, create a platform for coaching and mentorship, recognise achievements and role models, create market opportunities, and expand networks. This program also engages women investors by creating awareness about impact investing and connecting them with social entrepreneurs who are doing projects/businesses which align with their own personal values.
Our programs:
Emerging Women’s Summit (EWS)
EWS focuses on women’s indispensable role in accelerating Sri Lanka’s economic growth by advancing women’s visibility in business leadership, sharing success stories of women entrepreneurs and discussion on the creation of female network of Impact Investors, Mentors and Social Entrepreneurs.
The first Summit was conducted last April 2019 in Colombo. The event provided a new space for female entrepreneurs and investors who have a passion for social and environmental transformation and increased the visibility and participation of women in the impact investing and social enterprise landscape in Sri Lanka while provided a network for these women to meet, collaborate, and mentor one another. There were more than 100 stakeholders and social entrepreneurs participated at this event. The EWS will extend its presence island-wide with summits and workshops to be held regionally to enable women to meet, collaborate, and mentor one another.
Women Mentorship Circle
The Mentorship Circle is designed to empower, encourage, and guide women through the early stages of their entrepreneurial journeys by matching them with established professionals in their fields.
