During the validation workshop with the Stakeholders

On September 6th, Lanka Impact Investing Network (LIIN) hosted a stakeholder validation workshop for its Comprehensive Ground-Level Research on Entrepreneurship in the Northern Province. This event, held at the Department of Industries-Jaffna, is part of the GRIT-Initiative (Growth, Resilience, Investment, and Training). The research, led by Professor Rathiranee Yogendrarajah and her consultancy team from the University of Jaffna, delves into key entrepreneurial sectors such as agriculture, tourism, education, healthcare, gender perspectives, and the challenges faced by entrepreneurs in the region.

During the workshop, the consultancy team presented their findings to over 40 key stakeholders, including representatives from government, the private sector, and NGOs. This critical feedback process ensured the accuracy and relevance of the research findings. The insights gained will inform the design of future GRIT project activities, funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC) and implemented in collaboration with the World University Service of Canada (WUSC).

This research is a crucial step in understanding the unique entrepreneurial landscape of the Northern Province, helping to shape future initiatives, foster collaboration, and drive sustainable development. The hybrid-format workshop facilitated valuable engagement from stakeholders across various sectors, including the Department of Industries-Northern Provincial Council, Industrial Development Board (Jaffna), Department of Agriculture, Tourism Bureau Northern Province, Coconut Cultivation Board, financial institutions such as HNB Bank, and INGOs and NGOs.
