Chandula Abeywickrema is well-respected commercial banker with impeccable banking and finance career and tract record of over 30 years in Sri Lanka and in Asia. He started his banking and finance career in 1983 from Lanka Orix Leasing Plc (LOLC) as a senior credit analyst, headed the Hatton National Bank (HNB) retail and development banking as the Deputy General Manager, very successfully for 25 yeas. He spearheaded the HNB’s retail and development banking strategy over two decades enabling the bank to achieve national and international accolades. Under his leadership HNB won the best retail bank award for six consecutive years. He currently serves in the National Savings Bank (NSB) third largest public sector bank in Sri Lanka as the Consultant –Strategy and Marketing.
Chandula is an international expert in micro-finance and financial inclusion and is the Chairman of the board of Banking With the Poor Network (BWTP) which is the largest microfinance network in Asia. He also serves as the special advisor on Financial Inclusion to Asian Bankers Association, the largest Asian banks network. He currently serves as the board Chairman of the Vision Fund Sri Lanka(VFL) which microfinance subsidiary of the World Vision and Chairman of Lanka Financial Services Underserved Settlements (LFSUS) a UN incorporated body in Sri Lanka for law income housing. When the first ever national apex body was created in Sri Lank in 2013 as an initiative of USAID, representing the private corporate sector Chandula was invited to give the leadership corporate sustainability strategy in Sri Lanka, and currently leads the CSR SRI Lanka as the Chairman. In addition with a great passion and commitment to greater financial inclusion in Asia, Chandula serves on numerous boards of banking and finance institution in Asia and in Sri Lanka.
Eranda Ginige
Director
Eranda is the founder of Social Enterprise Lanka, a pioneering initiative to develop the social enterprise sector in Sri Lanka. He was the former Head of Innovation, Partnerships and Business Development at the British Council in Sri Lanka. He holds a Master’s degree in Project Management specialising in Business Administration from the University of Southern Queensland Australia. Eranda is a pioneer in developing graduate entrepreneurship in Sri Lanka. He has developed a number of programmes such as the popular enterprise reality TV show IDEATORS and has developed many institutional partnerships between the public, private and development sector organisations.
Travis Waas
Travis, counts more than 25 years of experience in the financial services sector, having commenced his career at Lanka Orix Leasing Company Ltd in 1987. After serving Hatton National Bank Ltd and Vanik Incorporation Ltd where he set up their respective Leasing Divisions, he joined DPMC Financial Services Ltd in 1999 as its Executive Director to steer the financial services cluster of the David Pieris Group. He was the founder Managing Director of Assetline Leasing Company Ltd from 2003 – 2009 and Director / CEO of Orient Financial Services Corporation Ltd till 2012. In November 2013, he was appointed as a Non-Executive Director at Capital Alliance Finance PLC. and served as its Chairman prior to its acquisition by Cargills Bank Ltd. Currently, he serves as a Director of Lanka Financial Services for Underserved Settlements, a company set up by UN-habitat in partnership with the Government of Sri Lanka to cater to the housing needs of the marginalized.
He is the holder of a B.Sc. from the University of Colombo and a MBA from University of North Texas (UNT), USA.
