Female leadership in social entrepreneurship & impact investing

Lanka Impact Investing Network, the very first Impact Investing company of Sri Lanka, hosted the “Emerging Women’s Summit (EWS): Female leadership in Social Entrepreneurship and Impact Investing”, on the 10 th of April 2019, at Hatch Colombo. The event provided a new space for female entrepreneurs and investors who have a passion for social and environmental transformation. The event’s objective was to increase the visibility and participation of women in the impact investing and social enterprise landscape in Sri Lanka while providing a network for these women to meet, collaborate, and mentor one another.
This event provides a unique opportunity to address the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Specifically, this event will discuss Goal 5: Gender Equality, Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities, and Goal 17: Partnership for the Goals.
EWS focused on Women’s indispensable role in accelerating Sri Lanka’s economic growth, advancing women’s visibility in company leadership, sharing of inspirational stories by successful female entrepreneurs and discussion on the creation of female network of Impact Investors, Mentors and Social Entrepreneurs.
Our main sponsors for this event was Sampath Bank and Hatch. Our partners were LSV, Selanka and Good-Market and Media Partner was Daily FT. The forthcoming EWS events have been planned to be held Jaffna and Kandy. In addition, we have set up the following:
- Creation of a Female Mentor Network to Mentor Social Enterprises Lead by Women.
- Launch of Networking Platform for Female Impact Investors to Link with Social Enterprises.
