Lanka Impact Investing Network (Private) Ltd (LIIN) in partnership with Tempest PE Partners (Private) Ltd (TPE) -- partly owned by Capital Alliance Holdings Ltd (CAL), pioneered the establishment of the country’s first indigenous impact funds in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to support social entrepreneurship and inclusive and sustainable businesses in the country utilizing a private equity platform.
On 26th September, 2018 at the UNDP Headquarters in NY, the signing ceremony between SOCIAL ENTERPRISE FUND (Private) LTD (SEF) and SOCIAL IMPACT CAPITAL (Private) LTD (SIC) jointly owned by LIIN & TPE, and UNDP Sri Lanka as well as UNDP SDG Impact Finance took place. The signing was observed and witnessed by high dignitaries of the Sri Lankan Government and UN/UNDP.
This pioneering initiative to create access to private equity to Social Entrepreneurs, Inclusive and Responsible businesses by LIIN, in partnership with TPE & UNDP has created two new funds.
Impact Enterprise Fund
Amount – USD 5 million
Catered to – Micro, small and medium level social entrepreneurs in the acceleration stage of their business life cycle
Investment ticket size – USD 5,000 to USD 50,000
Impact Capital Fund
Amount – USD 20 million
Catered to – Inclusive and responsible businesses who integrate and promote social impact in the core of their business models
Investment ticket size – USD 100,000 to USD 250,000
