Lanka Impact Investing Network (Pvt) Limited (LIIN), Sri Lanka’s pioneering impact investing company has entered into a partnership with Nanyang Center for Emerging Markets (CEM), an initiative by the Nanyang Business School in Singapore whose objective is to establish global thought leadership on business related issues in emerging markets.
LIIN has been committed to uplifting the social entrepreneurship landscape in Sri Lanka through initiatives such as the creation of the innovative ‘Ath Pavura’ TV reality show, in partnership with Social Enterprise Lanka, with the aim of creating a platform for social entrepreneurs to connect with Impact Investors.
The purpose of the partnership is for the two parties to collaborate with regards to CEM’s annual survey project on “Business model for sustainable growth in Asia”
The parties will collaborate to prepare the first annual report on “Pioneering Creating Shared Value (CSV) in ASEAN and South Asia: Leading Solutions for Big Problems”. Professor Zhao Meng, Research Head of Business Sustainability at CEM will be pioneering this project in collaboration with Mr. Chandula Abeywickrema, Chairman of LIIN.
CSV is about incorporating a social goal as the core element of a company’s value generation processes. It paves way for businesses to achieve their financial goals through producing positive change in the society. With the concept of CSV reaching out to more and more corners of the world more and more businesses and social pioneers are adopting business models with the aim of addressing social problems.
This report is a result of the partnership among global leading scholars, companies, entrepreneurs, NGOs, policy advisors and thought leaders who share an interest in the area of business sustainability in Asia. Eight ASEAN countries (Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam) and four South Asian countries (Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka) will be covered in the report with the findings revealing the landscape, key sectors, challenges and the business and policy implications of CSV in the regions.
